February 2001:

Wizards Kingdom begins upload. Launch will occur once the remainder of the Kingdom is up and running.

April 2001:

Wizard Publishers launches

June 2001:

Financial Management Wizards and Project Management Wizards opened. Launch on hold while Family Business sites are developed.

August 2000:

www.familybusinessexperts.com [FBE] first launched. Pre-SBI, this was initially a mixed sales and pre-sell site. Hosted like the Wizards Kingdom sites on Webquarry; pages composed with Netscape Composer and uploaded to Webquarry either by built in publisher function or WS-FTP.

June 2001:

www.family-business-experts.com [F-B-E] launches utilizing SiteBuildIt. This is to be a PRE-sell site, utilizing keyword focus for each page and an overall theme of family business. Ultimate goal: as many as 15 major sections, each containing up to 15 pages of specific content. We will PRE-sell both our own consulting services and services and products of businesses with whom we develop an affiliate relationship.

FBE is now to be entirely a sales page to sell our own consulting services. It will not be promoted as such, but will get referrals from F-B-E.

June 2002:

Work has progressed on part time basis by web master. Site now comprises 7 major sections with 32 pages. Alexa ranking: above 900,000. Promotion: almost exclusively pay-per-click advertising. Site could perhaps be submitted to Yahoo Directory, but decision made to defer submission until more sections are complete.

December 2002:

www.starting-online-business.com [SOB] launched. Another SiteBuildIt project, it will eventually be the narrowly focused theme site, taking existing material from F-B-E. No promotion until it hits 20 pages, then proceed directly to Yahoo listing. This is an experiment to see about fast tracking to Yahoo rather than using PPC promotion to build slowly.

F-B-E will get a new section to replace online business - featuring Local Business Online, since we share the view of certain others that getting small businesses online is critical to their survival and growth.

March 2003:

F-B-E up to 12 sections, 60 pages. Alexa ranking had been up to about 450,000 but has dropped to around 750,000 [Alexa now tracks over 3 million of the web's 16.6 million sites.] Our traffic is still increasing, but others are gaining faster.

FBE, without promotion, Alexa 900,000 plus.

Decision made to tune-up site and submit to Yahoo.

June 2003:

F-B-E submitted to Yahoo Directory. Approved within 48 hours. Alexa 618,000.

August 25, 2003

F-B-E now 14 sections, over 70 pages. Alexa climbing steadily - today 253,464 [3 month average... under 200,000 current rate]

FBE has also had a dramatic rise - 429,238! It appears that the Alexa rating for FBE is being moved up as traffic builds from F-B-E. Google ratings also higher, and this affects both sites. Google and Yahoo are presently working together... who knows how long that will last?

Referral link from F-B-E to FBE changed to point to index page of FBE. Index page re-written to strengthen its sales message [MakeYourSite Sell 2002 used as reference here!]

Next step: F-B-E will start to monetize. Google AdSense program being added to most pages. Then a selective link program will be started.

Linking in was delayed pending superior traffic volume and ranking from Alexa in order to let us attract more easily some really significant sites.

WK Alexa 2,666,823
WP Alexa 2,342,772

August 2003:

Web master begins process to formalize and promote expertise with SiteBuildIt tool.

November 2003:
I have become one of 13 SBI! Certified Webmasters... 7 of us here in the USA and 6 spread around the rest of the world.

F-B-E was completely re-coded for the Google AdSense program. We can't disclose how much revenue that program produces, but we are very pleased! It now ranks around 116,000 on Alexa. FBE has dropped slightly, and is still not promoted. With steady growth, we might break into the top 100,000 in a couple of months.

F-B-E will be getting a new Local Business Online section over the next while, since this is so important to smlal business success.

WK should start to see some traffic since that will include my sales page[s] for the SBI webmaster program. It's at 1,621,840, while WP is up to 2, 049, 448.

Starting-online-business has had no development for several months, but is up to 1,730,553. It will showcase much of the Site Build It! potential and I plan to get it ready for Yahoo listing by the end of the year, so it should be under 1,000,000 early in 2004.

February 2, 2004

Three significant events over the end of the year...

December 23, 2003: Starting Online Business submitted to Yahoo and listed in early January, 2004.

Unable to track exact impact from Yahoo listing by day since my system was down for major upgrading [Windows98SE to XP / 512 meg to 1 gig memory / new hard drive / assorted miscellaneous changes].

Google changed its algorithms - major effect on many sites traffic. Some lost ranking pages altogether. Some impact on Family Business Experts. Great panic by some web masters... those of us using Site Build It basically are riding out the change and expecting to see a gradual return to normal, which does seem to be happening. [See FBE notes below.]

F-B-E - had moved up to about 112,000, and I was optimistic of breaking into the top 100,000. The Google "Florida Dance" change in algorithm dropped us back to as low as 135,000, and today we are rebounding slightly to 125,030. F-B-E has a new and exciting section on Local Business Online, and will be getting a major new section on Estate Planning over the coming months.

WK is up nicely to 1,122,844 and WP is also up at 1,749,705

SOB is moving up dramatically, and blew through 1,000,000 early in January to its present ranking at 270,05!. This confirms my feeling that the Yahoo / Google combination is far and away the best and fastest way to build traffic. Not the only way, but right now the best. A new site needs valuable content for its readers [Yahoo listings are reviewed by human editors, so many engines tweak their algorithms to say in effect "If Yahoo's editors think it's good, we'll consider it favorably also."] and optimization for the engines. Site Build It takes care of both, and when a site gets to around 20 pages it is a candidate for listing.
